And because of being very popular, Parliaments have earned themselves several different nicknames among smokers. For example, “P-Funks” and “P-Lights” are two favorite nicknames for the full flavored cigarettes, and the light flavored cigarettes.
“P-Funks” derives from a popular funk band called “Parliament Funkadelic” or “P-Funks”. The other popular nicknames for this brand of cigarettes are “Parlies” and “Parlie Lights”.
These nicknames are invented or added not without a reason: that is the way they express their fondness and tenderness for them. These nicknames are not offensive or silly. It is very special!
Except, for these nicknames introduction, there were played different tricks, concerning this brand. At the very beginning, its price was lower than of its main competitor, Marlboro. Sales were modest.
As a result, Parliament cigarettes were characterized as the low-price category. Only few consumers appreciated their exclusive and unique filter.
But in a year their price became higher than of the Marlboro cigarettes, occupying a “ premium” niche.
